A kind-hearted local business has made a generous donation to a local girls football team, while they took part in a humorous forfeit event.

B&B cafe and Takeaway on Hamilton Street in Saltcoats handed over a cheque for £125 to Ardrossan Winton Rovers' under-12 girls side on Tuesday, August 16.

It was while they blasted in penalties at former Saltcoats Victoria stopper Patrick Tomelty, who found himself in this situation after a bet with B&B.

He had bet with the business that England women would lose their Euro 2022 cup final against Germany - and that he would receive a free breakfast as a result. However, if he was wrong, he would have to partake in a forfeit.

Of course, the Lionesses went out and won 2-1 in extra time, so Patrick would not be getting his free breakfast. And he stuck to his word, and to further show how the women’s game is growing, his forfeit was to face penalties from the stars of tomorrow.

The girls from Winton under-12s thoroughly enjoyed putting Patrick through his paces.

Michael Buttle from B&B: “It was a brilliant wee night for the girls, and of course the fantastic Patrick Tomelty for completing his forfeit.”
