GLEE was all around at Ardeer Gala Day last Saturday as children enjoyed a sun-soaked community event.
Held at Ardeer Community Centre, the event marked the culmination of a week-long programme of activities that included a trip to the zoo, lunch and movie day, disco and bingo night.
On gala day itself, the “stunning” gala queen and court were crowned - with help from Saltcoats and Stevenston councillors John Sweeney and Davina McTiernan.
Organisers thanked those who ensured the event was a success.
A social media post read: “We will start off by thanking our beautiful gala court and all their family for helping us make the day a huge success, they were all stunning and made our job very easy.
“We would like to thank the community for coming and supporting us, we couldn’t do it without you, so please continue to support us and we will strive to make sure we do our upmost for the community.
“Last but not least, my team of committee members and volunteers - one of which is also our fab caretaker.
“We all worked hard to make yesterday possible, a lot of organising and time but we all pull together and make things possible.”
Cllr Sweeney said: “Ardeer Gala Day was a great success thanks to the hard work of Christina [Smith, treasurer], Liz [Winters, secretary] and the committee. The sun was shining and all the children had a great time.”
