A man has been arrested for alleged road traffic offences after a car crashed into a Saltcoats home.

It is the second time within a week, a vehicle has driven into the entrance of a Three Towns home.

Police officers also confirmed that the car collided with another stationary vehicle, before colliding with the property.

Yesterday, September 5, the Herald heard reports that a vehicle had crashed into the front of a property in Gilfillan Avenue in Saltcoats.

This incident, just off of Dalry Road, becomes the second accident of its kind within a week, after a similar situation in St Margaret's Road in Ardrossan on Thursday, September 1.

On that occasion, one man was injured, while the home owner was not present at the time of the crash. Though a gas leak was caused by the crash, with all of the Scottish Ambulance Service, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, SGN and Police Scotland present.

Yesterday, it also appeared, according to eyewitness reports, that the home owner was not present at the time of the crash.

Only Police Scotland officers were at the scene, easing fears of a similar gas leak.

Officers later confirmed that no-one was injured as a result of the crash.

The vehicle does however, appear to have extensively damaged the entrance to the property.

“No one was injured and a 63-year-old man has been arrested for Road Traffic offences.

“Work is ongoing to make the building safe.”
