NORTH Ayrshire’s first ever Young People’s Champion has voiced her ambitions to make “lasting, positive change”.

Twenty-two-year-old councillor Chloe Robertson hopes to improve life for young people struggling amidst the cost-of-living crisis, as well as offer a platform for young people.

Councillor Robertson was announced to have been elected to the new role after the local government elections this May.

She said: “As a local young person, I feel that I have a similar perspective on what is important to young people in North Ayrshire.

“Having lived here all my life, I am deeply passionate about the issues facing young people and our communities, so in my role as Young People’s Champion, I hope to be a sounding board for the issues affecting young people and an advocate for them to stand up for their rights and amplify their views.

“I am confident that by presenting the views and opinions of our young people I can help to drive lasting, positive change and ensure that the voices of young people continue to be at the heart of the council’s local decision making.”

Cllr Robertson, a former pupil of St Matthew’s Academy, is a graduate of the University of Glasgow and served for two years as a member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
