Major roadworks on Largs Main Street begin today - with drivers warned to stay out of parking bays.

The works by Amey to improve parking bays and footways were due to start a week ago but were postponed due to the Queen's funeral.

Road users are being urged to avoid parking on Main Street between Bath Street and Hyndman Green to allow the works to proceed throughout the week.

The works will last until Saturday October 14, and will take place between 8am and 10pm each day under a series of daytime and evening lane closures.

A major part of the Amey scheme to install new traffic lights at the junction of Fort Street and Gallowgate Street was postponed for a year following community concerns
