A BEITH chippy is helping to put the town on the map after TV film crews were spotted at the takeaway.
Cameras have been rolling at The Tawny, in Reform Street, today (Wednesday, September 28) sparking rumours aplenty on social media.
The takeaway's owner, Kirsty Hendry, clarified the reason for the bright lights and commotion - revealing The Tawny could feature in the second season of a Scottish crime series.
Kirsty said: "Right, so, everyone is mailing me asking the question... The Tawny got scouted from a TV company to film scenes for Scottish TV drama Annika.
"They originally wanted us to close Thursday [and] Friday and I said 'naw', so they're here today to film as quick as they can... they loved our wee chippy that much."
Annika, adapted from a BBC Radio 4 drama, first aired last August and it was confirmed earlier this year that the show would be returning for a second season.
Starring Nicola Walker (Spooks, Marriage), the series was shown on Alibi and filming locations for the first season included Largs, Greenock and Helensburgh.
The Beith business won't be affected too much by all of the small screen glamour, with Kirsty confirming that it should re-open at its usual time of 4.30pm this afternoon.
And if and when the chippy appears in an upcoming episode of the show, new customers may just flock to the town for a famous fish supper.
