KILWINNING Rangers boss David Gormley was delighted by his team’s performance in their 2-0 win away to Largs Thistle.

Buffs' Dylan Macklin opened the scoring at Barrfields Park in the 23rd minute, knocking the ball into the net after a cannon of a throw in from Jack McCalman.

The victory was completed when Robbie Torrance netted in the 83rd minute, securing a vital away win.

After the game, Gormley told the Herald: “I was happy with the three points, but it is a hard place to come to.

“The boys should take credit, definitely. All in all it was another good performance. It is three points and it sets us up nicely for next week.

“We kept a clean sheet and we utilised the squad.”

The manager added: “It is always a difficult place to come to. I thought in the first half we were very, very good. One chance hit the bar early on and we had a another couple of close chances before Dylan scored.

“I was happy with the first half performance.

“At half time, Largs tweaked things and came up against us, but we managed to control that and then came the second goal, before we held on for the last five minutes.”

The boss said he was pleased by the substitutions at half time and in the second half.

He told The Buffs' Twitter site: “I thought against Cambuslang I maybe made too many changes, which disrupted the rhythm. Today, I thought every man of the four subs were brilliant.”

Kilwinning skipper Thomas Collins said: “I was delighted. I thought the boys battled on really well. It is three points for us going into a really big game next week.”

This Saturday, October 8, the Buffs travel to face third place Pollok in what promises to be a classic.

Buffs remain in seventh place in the WoSFL Premier League, just two points behind Pollok, but with a game in hand.

Meanwhile a testimonial match has been organised for club stalwart David ‘The Physio’ McCallum, who has served the Buffs for over 20 years. The Legends vs Allstars match will be held at Buffs Park on Sunday, October 30.
