EMERGENCY teams were called out to the former Barony St John church building in Ardrossan on Sunday after a large piece of protective window Perspex became unstable due to high winds.
There were fears it would blow off and potentially damage properties on Church Place.
A fire engine deemed it unsafe to remove the flapping Perspex by ladder and so Church Place was temporarily cordoned off while a second fire engine with an aerial ladder platform was deployed to the scene to make the building safe.
Tommy Easton of VQ Construction confirmed that he was no longer the owner of the former church building as it was sold last Thursday at auction.
The new owner will be the fourth since the Church of Scotland sold the church in 2014.
