ARDROSSAN Winton Rovers are once again playing their part in the community at their latest West of Scotland Football League fixture this weekend.

While the side are due to face Newmains United at 2pm on Saturday, October 15, they are taking care of off-the-park matters beforehand - by helping out the local food bank.

The club usually does a collection for the local food bank at this time of year, and the cost of living crisis means that more people are now using foodbanks than ever.

The club are asking supporters and residents to bring any spare food they can afford to donate along to Winton Park between midday and 2pm on Saturday.

The food bank is particularly keen for donations of items such as breakfast cereals, soup, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, tinned beans, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, tea or coffee, biscuits and snacks.

Ardrossan Winton Rovers chairman Pat Breen said: “It is more important than ever that local groups and people work together to help those in our community who are suffering the most due to the present cost of living crisis."

Winton Park is located on Anderson Terrace in Ardrossan and all are welcome to donate and to stay and take in the Third Division match afterwards.
