The newly-completed Lochshore Park Hub held free Family Fun Day to celebrate its official opening.

Last Saturday, people of all ages ould explore the hub and enjoy taking part in nature exploration, crafting, nature and heritage walks, a scavenger hunt, and adventure sports.

The hub features a café; toilets and changing rooms; natural play areas and activity zones; a wild camping area; a festival and events space; heritage interpretation; a community garden; new woodland and wetland habitats; facilities for dog walkers; plus, new visitor access points and car parking.

The indoor activities for the day included citizen science at 10.30am; a North Ayrshire Council park ranger led event at 11.30am; bug box making at 1pm; seed bomb making at 2pm.

Outdoor activities included a local heritage walk at 10.30am; a bird identification walk at 11.30am; a bug hunt at 1pm; a second local heritage walk at 2pm; and a nature discovery walk at 3pm.

Visitors also enjoyed exploring the adventure zone and enchanted forest nearby.

The hub cost £4.2 million to build and impressed all the visitors.
