FOR the second time this year Ardrossan Castle Curling Club held their ‘come and try’ at Auchenharvie’s ice rink.

It proved to be yet another smash hit with plenty of locals coming out to give the sport a try.

This event, as well as the previous opportunity in March of this year, have been organised off the back of team GB’s curling success at the winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022.

Guided by Scot Eve Muirhead team GB earned their only gold of the games when they defeated Japan in the final.

The club were hoping this would inspire more to get involved in the sport, having seen a reduction in participation in recent times.

Ardrossan Castle Curling Club was founded in the area almost 185 years ago, in 1838, but over the past few years has seen its squad numbers dwindle to only 22 playing members.
