A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection to a number of alleged housebreakings in Saltcoats.
The Herald contacted police regarding the situation following an online warning of a male trying the doors of houses and cars around the Kennedy Road area of the town.
They warned those in the surrounding streets to be vigilant and to keep an eye out in future.
After the police got involved in the incident, which took place in the early hours of the morning on October 18, an arrest has now been made.
The 55-year-old male who stands accused of the charges, will appear in Kilmarnock Sherrif Court later today, October 20.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a number of housebreakings in Kennedy Road and Border Place, Saltcoats on Tuesday, 18 October 2022.
"He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday, 20 October 2022.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
