Fire service confirm no casualties after large house fire on Sorbie Road in Ardrossan

Six fire appliances were in attendance at a large blaze in a property on Sorbie Road after receiving a call at around 3.30pm yesterday, October 25. At least one appliance was still at the property this morning, October 26.

The incident affected at least one property on the street, just before it moves into Caledonia Road, across from the Holm Plantation.

In footage and images shared with the Herald, heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the building.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.30pm on Tuesday, October 25 to reports of a dwelling fire on Sorbie Road, Ardrossan. 

“Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene. Crews remain in attendance as they work to make the area safe. 

“There are no reported casualties.”

One eye witness at the scene told the Herald that ambulance crews began arriving at the scene shortly after 5pm.

Though a source has said that no one required hospitalisation as a result of the incident.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 1649hrs from The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on October 25, to attend a fire at a property on Sorbie Road, Ardrossan. We dispatched two resources to the scene.”

Police Scotland officers were also in attendance, though this was only to deal with traffic management as the affected area of Sorbie Road was closed off late into Tuesday evening. The road was re-opened as normal today, October 26.

Yesterday, a Police Scotland spokesperson said : “Officers are currently in attendance at Sorbie Road, Ardrossan assisting with traffic management after reports of a fire.”
