Local musicians will be taking to the stage in West Kilbride soon to raise funds for a project set up in the village to help people struggling with steep increases in the cost of food.

The husband-and-wife folk duo Irene and David McCulloch will perform alongside other musicians at the Barony Centre on Friday, November 11 at 7.30pm in aid of the Village Larder.

Irene and David said: “We selected the larder as we feel it is a very important cause in light of the financial hardships that all communities will be dealing with this winter.

“The concert is a good way to bring people together and at the same time support a very needed facility.

“All the musicians are playing free of charge and a number of volunteers besides ourselves are helping on the night with ticket collection, raffle distribution, sound provision and preparation duties.”

The concert is BYOB but deli food will be available for attendees.

The Village Larder opened in April 2021 and is open on Tuesdays and Fridays between 9am-12pm and on Thursdays between 6pm and 8pm.

Members can access fresh, frozen, and non-perishable items, as well as other essentials at a set price, which has become especially important to many within the community as the cost-of-living crisis worsens.

Tickets for the benefit gig can be purchased from Guilani’s on West Kilbride’s Main Street.
