TRAFFIC on the A78 shore road between Ardrossan and West Kilbride was brought to a standstill, following a crash.

The accident took place this evening, October 29, and involved three vehicles.

Police officers and the Scottish Ambulance Service are currently in attendance.

At the moment, traffic heading between Ardrossan and West Kilbride is being diverted to the B780 and B781.

The condition of those involved in the collision is, as of yet, unclear.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.10pm on Saturday, October 29, 2022, officers were called to a report of a three vehicle crash on the A78 near West Kilbride.

“Officers are assisting with traffic management.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service have also been approached for comment.

Local reports suggest the road has now re-opened travelling from West Kilbride to Ardrossan, though traffic is still being turned back in the opposite direction.
