NORTH Ayrshire jobseekers are being invited to attend an employment fayre in Saltcoats this week.

The event, coinciding with Scottish Careers Week 2022, will take place in Saltcoats Town Hall on Friday, November 11, from 9am to noon.

Organised by area politicians Kenneth Gibson MSP and Patricia Gibson MP, a cross-section of major private and public sector organisations from Ayrshire and beyond will be in attendance on the day with job and apprenticeship vacancies available.

The event is open to people of all ages who are actively looking for employment and to those, including senior school pupils and students, keen to see what opportunities are available.

Pre-Covid, 10 similar employment fayres were successfully held from 2013-2019, with 50-60 businesses taking part in each.

More than 6,800 people have attended in total over the years and Friday is also expected to be busy.

Scottish Careers Week 2022 runs from November 7-11 under the auspices of Skills Development Scotland.

Mr Gibson said: “Scotland has world-class employers and I am delighted that, following 10 successful events prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Patricia and I have again been able to organise an employment fayre to bring together public and private businesses and services which have employment and apprenticeship opportunities for local people."

Patricia Gibson added: “Participating organisations will have staff, exhibition stands, information and will enable one-to-one discussion.

"I am heartened that senior pupils from seven North Ayrshire secondary schools have already confirmed they will attend this Friday.

“If you, a relative or friend are looking for a job, please come along.”
