A Saltcoats shop’s charity fashion show has helped raise over £400 for a local church.

M&Co’s shop in Dockhead Street hosted the fundraiser for St John’s Church on Sunday, November 13, raising a total of £437.

With seats lining the aisles and around 50 attendees in the shop, volunteer models from the community worked the runway to put on a show.

Compère and shop worker Pauline McCluckie said: “Its customers doing the modelling, so we know them and its good fun - everyone volunteers their cute kids.

“It’s a laugh! I do the compèring so it’s just slagging them off when they go down and giving descriptions – like I said we know the customers.

“We’ve had great feedback, everybody said they thoroughly enjoyed it and somebody has asked us to do another one for next year.

“I know M&Co’s a big company, but we want to try and promote Saltcoats and get involved with community groups.”

A raffle with prizes ranging from a food hamper, bottles of wine, gift sets, and chocolate was also on offer for attendees and went towards the fundraising effort.

The shop has hosted other charity fashion shows for a variety of community groups with the last one being held earlier this year in benefit of the Red Cross Ukraine appeal.

Any community groups or charities who would like to put on a fashion show fundraiser are invited to get in touch with the Saltcoats shop to organise an event.
