A GROUP of Three Towns fund-raising legends received some star-quality backing this week.

The Grey Dippers, who partake in cold water therapy with their efforts in Ardrossan as well as 'Bookers Pond' in Irvine, are raising money for the North Ayrshire Foodbank.

The group, comprising Lee Riddex, Tam Kane, David Kane, James McLeod, James Booth, Colin Booth, Gordon Woods, Tony Clarke and Joe Smith, has set the lofty ambition of completing a total of 200 'dips' into the local waters before Boxing Day.

And they are well on their way to reaching this total, having completed 117 so far.

They have also smashed their £1,000 fund-raising goal out of the water, if you pardon the pun, having achieved a total of £4,760 and counting already.

And they were joined recently by a well kent local face, with Scotland international star Billy Gilmour joining the group.

The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder - alongside his brother, Kilmarnock footballer Harvey Gilmour, and dad Billy Gilmour senior - took the plunge alongside the Grey Dippers.

The group's fund-raising page is still open now, and you can find this online at tinyurl.com/GreyDippers.
