ARDROSSAN Winton Rovers Girls under 14s made a little bit of history on Saturday.

The side defeated Strathaven Dynamo in their final league match - handing them the South-West Region Erin Cuthbert League title.

They became the first ever side from the Three Towns to claim the trophy, and did so in spectacular fashion, going the full season without losing a single match.

In the first half of the season they won every game and in the second half of the season they only dropped points once, in a draw away to Garnock Valley.

The girls’ coaches and parents are also “extremely proud” of this achievement, which happens very rarely at any level of football.

The U14’s would like to thank the wider Ardrossan Winton Rovers family for the support and opportunities they have provided to the girls throughout the season, Ardrossan Winton Rovers CIC and Ardrossan Winton Rovers Youth Academy who have been an invaluable help.

They would also like to give a massive thanks to the support provided by the local community, not only in attendance at games but also the assistance received in the many aspects they get involved in within the team and the academy.

The girls now have their end of season presentation to look forward to, this will round off a very successful first season at 11-aside football before a nice break at Christmas.

They come back in the new year to prepare for the challenge of U16s football. If there are local businesses that want to help support the league winning side as they move onto the level, please get in touch.

Ardrossan Winton Rovers Girls have age groups from U7s – U16s and are always looking to give girls the opportunity to play football in a fun and safe environment that is delivered by SFA qualified coaches.

If anyone is interested in joining the academy on our journey as we create a pathway right through to women’s adult football, please get in touch awrladies@icloud.com or on social media.
