USERS of a busy commuter road have been warned they may experience delays for two weeks as work get under way to tackle repeat flooding.

Three-way temporary traffic lights are due to be placed on the A78 between Ardrossan and West Kilbride from Monday, November 28.

These will be in place between the beginning of the Seamill area and the Waterside Hotel.

The traffic lights will be in operation for 24-hours a day once work commences at 9.30am on Monday.

These will remain in place until Monday, December 12, at around 7pm, when these will eventually be removed.

As well as affecting the A78 road directly, the third set of lights will impact those using the B7047 road from and towards Meadowfoot Road.

This closure is to facilitate future drainage works in what is a problemed area for flooding on the road controlled by infrastructure services and engineering company Amey.

The scheme taking place will see the diversion of an SGN gas line to allow for this drainage improvement in future. The project is valued at around £45,000.

Amey say this work will benefit around 12,000 vehicles which use this road each day.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
