ARDROSSAN Winton Rovers held a sold-out sportspersons' dinner at the Lauriston Hotel earlier this month.

The club also used the opportunity to pay tribute to a departing club stalwart, thanking him for his years of service.

Donald Reid retired as Winton treasurer after many years of faithful service.

Club chairman Pat Breen thanked him for his commitment to the club and presented him with an engraved quaich.

The gathering itself was chaired by Angus Middleton and the guest speakers were Tosh McKinlay, formerly of Dundee, Hearts, Celtic and Kilmarnock.

Joining them was former Northern Ireland international Jimmy Nicholl, who played for Manchester United, Rangers, Dunfermline and Raith Rovers before spells coaching and managing across Scotland.

They entertained an appreciative audience with their very funny football stories.
