A WOMAN is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after a two-car crash closed a major road between Largs and Kilbirnie for more than four hours at the weekend.

Part of the A760 was shut yesterday (Sunday, November 27) following the collision involving a blue Renault Twingo and a black Kia Soul at around 9.30am near the entrance to Mills Milk dairy.

According to police, the 20-year-old female passenger from the Renault has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Renault and the driver and passenger – both women aged 63 and 71 respectively - from the Kia have all been taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

The road was closed until around 2pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay, of Police Scotland’s road policing unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances which led to this collision are ongoing.

“I would urge anyone who may have information which could help to come forward. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the road around the time of the incident.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1066 of November 27.”
