A young Saltcoats man slapped two people in Largs and wielded a knife before biting and spitting blood at police.

Leon Thompson, 21, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and four assault charges on January 3 this year.

Thompson admitted shouting, swearing and making threats while brandishing a knife.

He then assaulted a female by slapping her in the face during the incident at an address in Holehouse Court in Largs.

He also slapped a male on the face then punched him on the body.

He also pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting police in the line of duty, spitting on a female copper and it landing on her hand.

He also admitted biting a male police officer on the body, while not guilty pleas to four other charges were accepted by prosecutors.

He committed the offences while already out on bail - granted on November 25 last year at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

When he returned to court last week (November 25) his defence solicitor said it "was serious charges, it has to be accepted" urging Thompson to be placed under further supervision.

Sheriff George Jamieson said: "Mr Thompson, I've read the social work report, you've obviously gone berzerk and caused a lot of hassle to people."

He was given a community payback order and placed under supervision for two years.
