Carrick stores: Premier convenience shop in Dalry plans to extend

Carrick Stores, a Premier convenience shop, has submitted the proposals to North Ayrshire Council this week.

Plans also include alterations to the front of the store - one of which is the installation of a new ATM.

The expansion would all be made possible by making use of the vacant flat next door to the premises on Sharon Street.

The owner of the shop, whose name has been removed from planning documents available online, already owns the neighbouring flat at number 37 on the street.

The application would see a change of use of ground floor flat to enlarge the convenience store.

This proposal includes: frontage alterations; the installation of an ATM; the demolition of existing rear extension; and the erection of replacement single storey extension to provide additional retail floorspace and storage space.

The 'frontage alterations' are further defined to include new signage and that the entrance to the store will move.

Documents state that the planned works would provide an additions 142 square metres of space to Carrick Stores.

Of this additional space, a majority would create additional room on the shop floor - the only exception is a small staff room and toilet on the back corner of the site.

The shop counter will be moved and the wall seperating the flat and the shop would be removed as part of the expansion plans.

The plans were submitted to the council by Saltcoats based architect company ADNR on behalf of the store on Monday, November 28.

These proposals were then validated a week later. They are currently with the council, as planning authority, pending consideration.
