North Ayrshire Council have announced that the Stevenston beach footbridge will be closed until further notice.
The footbridge near the car park will be temporarily closed for an unspecified amount of time as a public safety precaution.
The council are recommending using the beach’s other footbridge located north-west of the closed bridge while they investigate the damage done to the bridge as well as flooding issues in the area.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said: “The bridge is currently closed as a safety precaution and we are investigating the cause of the damage, while also looking into future repair options.
“We are also examining environmental and flooding-related issues in the area as part of this work.
“The advice to anyone visiting the beach is to use the alternative footbridge, which is to the north-west of the one that has been shut off.”
