AN AYRSHIRE based tech company plan to resurrect the derelict site of a former Saltcoats hotel.

Microtech Business Intelligence plan on converting the land, which was previously the Grange Hotel but has been vacant for many years, into three commercial business units.

The proposals for the site also include parking provisions and the relocation of access to the adjacent public road.

The site is situated between the Smart Hand Car Wash on Erskine Place and the flats at Harbour Point in Saltcoats. The land itself is considered to be on Harbour Street.

The proposal would see the creation of three units, all to be 500 square feet in area.

Planning documents do not state whether Microtech themselves would look to use the units, or whether these would be leased to other companies and businesses.

The plans supporting statement describes the current state of the site.

They say: "The site is currently derelict and in disrepair with no remaining buildings and a surface of gravel, concrete slabs, random broken tarmac areas and grass and scrub. It is used as an ad hoc unregulated carpark.

"The land is the site of the former Grange Hotel and has been identified by NAC as a Regeneration Opportunity.

"The site has the potential to be developed for several use classes, 1-6 and has been assessed by NAC planning as suitable for up to 12 flats."

Plans were submitted to North Ayrshire Council on December 7, and are currently pending consideration.
