2022 was a massive year for West Kilbride AFC - as the amateur football side celebrated their 75th year in existence.

They marked the occasion with a special sportsman’s dinner held in the village hall.

Over 100 people were in attendance - players and fans both past and present - to enjoy a meal in the company of speakers Chick Young and Alan Rough. The night was hosted by local lad Angus Middleton.

Proceedings began with a special presentation by the club to Wullie Allan. The 87-year-old, who was in attendance with his son, was identified as the club’s oldest living former player and was presented with a special tankard by the speakers Chick Young and Alan Rough on behalf of the club.

The club itself was presented with a commemorative bowl by Ayrshire Amateur Football Association representative Graham Mair, who was invited to the top table for the evening.

The evening’s speakers then took to the floor, having the crowd in fits of laughter as they shared their stories from their time in Scottish football.

The evening was rounded off with the auction of a Scotland shirt signed by Billy Gilmour - which raised over £200.

This added to a Norwich City shirt signed by the 2022/23 squad that the club had already actioned off online - thanks to local man, West Kilbride AFC fan and sports journalist Stuart Hodge - fetching over £100.
