A CHARITY which gives free help to North Ayrshire residents struggling with debt is urging people in the area to contact them in the new year if they need support.

CHAP (Community Housing Advocacy Project) is worried that people may run into financial difficulties after the festive season is over as an after-effect of Christmas.

The charity wants anyone who is struggling to contact them as soon as possible to give them a “stronger start” to 2023.

A spokesperson for CHAP said: “Talking about debt is never a barrel-load of laughs but talking about it is exactly what anyone worried about a burst budget needs to do – especially when costs are rising and income isn’t.

“Just like looking after your own general health, where financial health is concerned, early intervention tends to bring the best outcomes.

“CHAP advisers specialise in lessening worry and restoring hope.

“Don’t let money worries get the better of you this year. 2023 could be a whole load brighter if you take that first step soon and get the year off to a stronger start.”

The CHAP office closed for the holidays at 3.30pm on Friday December 23, and will reopen at 9am on Wednesday, January 4.
