A SALTCOATS man has been cleared of being in control of an alleged dangerous dog that was said to have attacked two schoolchildren.

Kevin Mathieson, 61, had pleaded not guilty to a charge of being the owner of the spaniel that was allegedly dangerously out of control at St Matthew’s Academy on April 24 last year.

Court papers claimed the animal jumped up on and injured an 11-year-old boy and repeatedly bit and injured another 11-year-old boy.

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court earlier this month, Mr Mathieson, of Welsh Place, was acquitted of the charge.
