AN INNOVATIVE 'reverse jobs fair' will be held later this month in a bid to pair employers up with their future workforce.
The talent showcase - with a twist – will see people who are looking for work servicing the tables as their potential employers walk round and take a look at their CVs and find out about their skills and experience.
Business owners and employers are invited to attend the event at Lockhart Campus in Stevenston from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Friday, February 24.
It has been arranged by the local employability partnership and led by the team at the Equal Programme, which is a supported employment service helping people with disabilities or long-term health conditions in North Ayrshire to get into work.
The Equal Programme comes under the banner of North Ayrshire Council’s employability service Your Next Move, Working North Ayrshire.
This service offers a wide range of tailored support to get people back into work, start work for the first time or take a step up the career ladder.
Linda Ford, programme manager at Equal, said: “A normal jobs fair is when employers have stalls set out at a venue and members of the public go along to get information or fill in application forms.
“This one will see the candidates, who are looking for employment opportunities, having a table displaying information about them and their experience, with employers walking around meeting them. They can have a coffee and an informal chat together on the day.
“This creates an opportunity for talented people to showcase their skills and speak to potential employers, and we would really like to see as many employers as possible attending on the day."
Information about incentives and support that is available – including the Fair Work Ayrshire and Disability Confident schemes - for employers will be presented to attendees on the day in a handy wallet.
Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for economy and climate change, said: “This is a great opportunity for employers across North Ayrshire to find hardworking staff.
And I hope as many as possible will make time to attend Lockhart Campus on the day.”
Candidates who will be there on the day are interested in working in care, horticulture, customer service, business admin, construction and warehousing.
The event, supported by Your Next Move, Working North Ayrshire and North Ayrshire Local Employability Partnership, is free to attend.
