An acclaimed folk group promise a “lively evening” as they prepare to come to West Kilbride in March.

Fara will be bringing their energetic traditional music to the West Kilbride Village Hall on Friday March 10 at 7.30pm – five years after their last gig in the town.

Playing old Orkney folk songs as well as originals, the four piece consists of Orkney-born musicians with Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie, and Catriona Price on fiddles and Rory Matheson from the highlands on piano.

Member of Vertex - the group promoting the concert - Chris Maughan, said: “With a mixture of self-penned and traditional Orkney tunes as well as stunning vocals, Fara’s musical experiences and friendships produce an exciting and individual sound.

“With vibrant arrangements full of rich harmonies, energetic fiddle playing and driving piano, audiences are always captivated and richly entertained. And dancing is likely”.

“When Fara performed in West Kilbride in 2018 they put on a great show for us and if their latest performances at Celtic Connections last month are anything to go by then we anticipate another lively evening.”

Having played around the world and in various festivals across their decade long career, Fara has become well respected in the folk and trad music communities.

A sample of the group’s accolades include winning the German Critics’ Choice Award in 2017 and being nominated for Live Act of the Year at the 2019 Scots Trad Music Awards.

Tickets cost £15 and can be purchased by calling the Village Hall on 01294 829590 or online via Eventbrite: www.tinyurl.com/farawestkilbridetickets.
