A charitable fitness club in Dalry donated an amazing £1,500 to Ayrshire Hospice in their tenth annual fundraiser.

MRC Fitness raised the money through a charity raffle held during their annual Christmas party last December but handed the check over on February 6.

Club owner Lorraine Wallace said: “We’ve been supporters of Ayrshire Hospice for a number of years now.

“The members and local businesses are so generous with their purchases of raffle tickets and donations of prizes.

“We had the raffle at our Christmas party night which was Romeo and Juliette themed. It was a fun night.”

MRC Fitness have regularly fundraised for the hospice since 2013 and first donating to the hospice 16 years ago in 2007.

Their generosity hasn’t gone unnoticed, with staff at the hospice thanking them for their chairty and time over the past 16 years.

Fundraising manager for community and events, Graeme Strawhorn, said: “It’s obviously so important for us to receive funds from groups such as MRC Fitness because simply put the Hospice couldn’t be what it is today without that support.

“Their first donation in 2007 was £400 and to grow it all the way to £1,500 is just phenomenal.

“That money goes a long way to help patients not just in the Hospice itself but obviously we support people in the community and that’s what it’s all about – that community spirit.”
