A DISGRACED former teacher who was jailed for grooming a pupil has appeared in court again after 'forgetting' to check-in with police.

George Fisher was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years in 2017 and is required to periodically update cops with details such as his home address.

However, the 38-year-old failed to attend at a police office last month and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court recently to admit the offence.

Police arrested and charged Fisher on January 24 at his home and he was sentenced for breaching the Sexual Offences Act 2003 on February 15.

His defence solicitor told the court: "He was released from prison in 2017. He has registered every year until this year.

"The circumstances are that on January 14 he forgot about it. It is that simple. It was an oversight on his part."

Sheriff Sheena Fraser told the sex offender: "You must understand that forgetting to do anything you are required to do is not acceptable.

"The court takes a very dim view of it."

Fisher, who now lives in Skelmorlie, was fined £270 plus a £20 victim surcharge and he was given 28 days to pay.

The former PE teacher was locked up for eight months in January 2017 after being convicted of grooming a pupil while married.

The then-32-year-old preyed on the 16-year-old girl while coaching her hockey at St Matthew's Academy in Saltcoats and at a separate hockey club.

He got hold of the youngster's mobile number when she was in first year, aged 12, and took her virginity having begun a sexual relationship with her.

Fisher pleaded guilty to a single charge of repeatedly having sex with someone under the age of 18 - whilst in a position of trust towards them - between June and November 2016, and was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
