NORTH Ayrshire Council (NAC) has confirmed that all schools in the region will be closed for two days this week as part of ongoing industrial action.
Parents and carers have been advised to make plans for tomorrow (Tuesday, February 28) and Wednesday, March 1 with schools in the area set to shut for primary and secondary-aged pupils on both days.
Teachers' union EIS rejected the latest pay offer from the Scottish Government and council body Cosla, which included a six per cent pay rise in the current year and a further 5.5 per cent in the new financial year.
The union is planning further strikes in March in an escalation of action over the pay dispute.
There were several days of strikes last month and this week's industrial action will also affect schools in East and South Ayrshire.
Parents and carers are advised that all primary and secondary schools will be closed on Tue, 28 February, and Wed, 1 March, due to industrial action. All early years centres and early years classes within primary schools will be open. More details👉https://t.co/lLWZR2rRhO pic.twitter.com/iwJMLmaFx9

"Pupils who are entitled to a free school meal can get a packed lunch on the days of strike action.
"Parents and carers can collect these from the child’s own school – or nearest school – between 11am and 1pm.
"If there are any changes to these arrangements parents and carers will be informed."
