A MAN has been arrested in connection with numerous offences following a car chase through the Three Towns.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon, Monday, February 27, and the pursuit saw officers tail the man from the A78 in Saltcoats, where he allegedly failed to stop his vehicle for police.

The chase eventually came to an end on Dalry Road in Ardrossan where the Renault Clio stopped.

The Herald contacted police about the incident after a video surfaced on social media of officers detaining a man on Dalry Road, following an extensive struggle.

And police were able to confirm that a 27-year-old man was arrested and charged, following the chase, in connection with road traffic and drugs offences, possession of an offensive weapon and resisting arrest.

 

 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.20pm on Monday, February 27, a Renault Clio failed to stop for officers on the A78 near Saltcoats.

“A pursuit of the vehicle took place and the car stopped on Dalry Road, Ardrossan.

“A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with road traffic and drugs offences, possession of an offensive weapon and resisting arrest.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The accused was due to appear in court today, Tuesday, February 28.
