UPDATE: Police Scotland have now confirmed the man in the CCTV image is not Andrew Linton.

POLICE have now released a CCTV image from the date of Andrew Linton's disappearance which they say may assist in their investigations.

It comes 16 days on from his disappearance from a home in the Corsehill area of Kilwinning.

Andrew, 43, left the property at around 5.35am on Wednesday, February 22, and no knowledge of his potential whereabouts from then had previously been known.

Though yesterday, Friday March 10, Police Scotland released a CCTV image which they say contained a man matching Andrew's description.

The image shows a man, in the bottom left of the image, walking on Lochlibo Road at its junction with Cairnmount Road in Irvine, at around 6.25am on Wednesday, February 22.

Now officers are keen to gain further information off the back of this.

Sergeant Martin Fraser said: “As part of our enquires, we have been gathering and viewing a large amount of CCTV footage from in and around the Kilwinning and Irvine areas to establish where Andrew went after he left his home in the Corsehill area of Kilwinning around 5.25am that morning.

“The person in the left of the CCTV image is quite a distance away, so although the man matches Andrew’s description and has a similar walk, we can’t be certain it is him.

"Therefore, I would ask any drivers or anyone in this area around 6.25am that morning and remember seeing him, to get in touch.

Anyone with any information that may assist trace Andrew, no matter how insignificant it may seem, should contact police through 101 quoting reference number 0514 of February 22.

Andrew is described as white, around five feet and six inches in height, of stocky build and that he speaks with a local Ayrshire accent.

When he was last seen he was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt, a light-coloured beanie hat, black trousers and black boots.

It is thought he may also have on a grey hooded jumper and be carrying a large red rucksack with black lace crisscrossed.

Andrew's family are growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and his disappearance has been described as very out of character.

Since he was last seen over two weeks ago searches have been carried out in both the Corsehill area and Stevenston and Ardeer area, to no avail as of yet.
