THE Helensburgh Orchestral Society is on stage in town this weekend.

The orchestra, led by Christine Sinclair and conducted by Derrick Morgan, will play works by Balakirev, Glazunov and Tchaikovsky at the Victoria Halls on Sunday, March 26 at 7.45pm.

The Glazunov work – the Russian composer’s Saxophone Concerto – will feature guest soloist Dean Garrity (pictured above), winner of the 2021 John Mather Rising Star award at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

In 2021, Dean was the woodwind winner of the RCS concerto competition and was awarded the Governors’ Recital Prize for Chamber Music with his saxophone quartet, The Ventus Quartet.

Tickets for Sunday’s concert (£10 for adults, £6 for students) are available in advance from the Scandinavian Shop or Destination Helensburgh, both on Sinclair Street, directly from orchestra members, or at the door on the night subject to availability.

Entry for accompanied under-12s is free.
