TWO men were taken to hospital as a result of a crash in Beith last night (Monday, March 27).

The incident took place on the busy A737 commuter road in the town, at its junction with Barrmill Road, shortly after 10pm.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a Volkswagen Golf and an electric Volkswagen ID3 car.

The drivers were the sole occupants of the vehicles and both were taken to hospital following the collision.

The two males were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock respectively.

Police Scotland are currently investigating the crash.

A force spokesperson confirmed: “Around 10.10pm on Monday, March 27, 2023, police were called to a two-vehicle road crash involving a VW Golf and VE ID3 on the A737 junction with Barrmill Road, Beith.

“The two male drivers of the cars, both only occupants, were taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow and Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock respectively.

“Enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.”
