A PERSON has been taken to hospital after a crash between Saltcoats and Dalry.

The incident took place on the B714 connecting the two towns at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Drivers reported being turned away on both the Dalry and Saltcoats side of the road for more than an hour while the emergency services handled with the situation.

Both the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) and Police Scotland confirmed their attendance at the crash.

An SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 18:34 on March 29 to attend a road traffic collision (RTC) on the B714 between Dalry and Saltcoats.

"One ambulance was dispatched to the scene and a patient was transported to Crosshouse Hospital.”

While a Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Police were called around 7.10pm on Wednesday, 29 March, to a report of a road crash on the B714 near Saltcoats and officers attended."

The B714 re-opened in full at around 9pm.
