LOCALS have been blown away this past week by the transformation of Stevenston swing park.

The facilites at Stevenston beach have recently undergone a refurb as part of £500,000 of council investment in local play parks.

And it's fair to say the work that has taken place in Stevenston has gone down a treat.

Images were shared online late last month giving a sneak preview at what the park looked like - before it opened on Saturday March 25 after passing a last safety inspection.

The pictures of the new-look park were shared by local litter-picking legend Ian Cassidy, who was more than impressed by the revamp.

He said: "A sneak preview of the newly refurbished play park at Stevenston Beach. Looking just fab. I cannot wait to see the reaction of the youngsters."

And he wasn't the only one impressed by the fresh look, which features a new 'castle' slide and climbing wall, a standout 'pirate ship' as well as other upgraded equipment such as the swing sets.

Many locals took to the social media comments to share their delight at the work taking place.

One said: "Looks fabulous, I know a very special lady will be beaming down with pride at how amazing Stevenston beach is looking."

While another added: "Wow love it can't wait to take my grandsons they will never want to leave. Congratulation to everyone for their hard work."

The park can be found on Shore Road in Stevenston, next to the new Doon the Beach community cafe.
