POLICE have confirmed they are investigating what residents claim to be attempted car theft in a Saltcoats Street.
Those local to Caaf Water Place in the town shared videos on social media from the early hours of the morning yesterday, Thursday April 6, which appear to show someone trying the door handles of their car.
Thankfully, the unknown figure was unable to obtain access to any vehicle and soon made off.
Residents say this happened shortly before 5am, and footage was captured on their Ring doorbells.
Police were contacted once they became aware of the footage, and the alleged incident, and officers say they are now looking into this.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10 am on Thursday, April 6, 2023, a report was made to police regarding the suspicious behaviour of a man at a vehicle outside an address in Caaf Water Place, Saltcoats.
"Enquiries are at an early stage."
