A BODY has been discovered on the beach near West Kilbride, say police.

Officers say the body has not been formally identified but that the family of a man who has been missing from Stevenston for more than two weeks have been informed.

Police Scotland confirmed that a body had been found on the beach near Seamill early this morning, Monday April 10.

They say formal identification has yet to take place, though the family of missing Stevenston man David Wyllie.

David, 41, had been missing from his home in the Three Towns since Thursday, March 24.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man was found on the beach near Seamill around 6.15am on Monday, April 10.

"He is still to be formally identified but the family of David Wyllie, 41, who had been reported missing from Stevenston on Thursday, March 244, have been made aware."
