POLICE have arrested and charged a man in relation to a serious assault in the Three Towns.
Officers were in attendance in the Garrett Avenue area of Saltcoats after being made aware of the alleged incident on Easter Sunday (April 9).
They say that a 41-year-old man has subsequently been arrested and charged in connection with this.
The information was passed onto the Herald after contacting Police Scotland upon hearing that a cordon had been placed on Stanley Road - at the road's junction with Garthland Drive.
A small triangular cordon of police tape was seen over part of the pavement in the area - and what appeared to be blood could be seen on the pathway.
However in response to this query, Police Scotland passed on information regarding to the Garrett Road area.
A force spokesperson said: "Officers attended the Garrett Avenue area of Saltcoats on Sunday, 9 April, after being made aware of a serious assault.
"A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
It is unclear at this stage if the alleged serious assault confirmed by police was related to the cordon on Stanley Road.
Police Scotland have been contacted to provide further clarity.
