POLICE say they have recovered a "significant number" of cannabis plants after a tip-off about a potential cultivation in the Garnock Valley.

Officers were present for an extended period of time on Avils Hill in Kilbirnie on Wednesday, April 26, after being called to the area.

Police vehicles were first called to a property at around 10.30am, and local reports suggest they remained present in the area until after 5pm.

They say they were called to reports of a "potential" cannabis cultivation - which led to a significant discovery.

There do not appear to have been any arrests made in relation to the find - though officers say their investigations are continuing.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "Around 10.30am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, police were called to a report of a potential cannabis cultivation at a property at Avils Hill, Kilbirnie.
