A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after an air ambulance was spotted in Saltcoats.

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) aircraft was seen landing around Middlepart Crescent in the town shortly before midday on Saturday, April 29.

A police cordon was also set up in the street to allow for a safe landing of the helimed aircraft.

Officers confirmed that they were assisting their fellow emergency service after a woman took unwell at an address in nearby Boyd Orr Road.

It is understood the field adjacent to Middlepart Crescent was identified as the safest landing zone for the air ambulance near to the incident.

The SAS have since confirmed that they were called to the incident, with a number of vehicles sent in response as well as the helimed aircraft.

A female patient in her 30s was then transported to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

A SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.47am on Saturday to attend an incident in Saltcoats.

"We dispatched two ambulances, one paramedic response unit, our trauma team and an air ambulance to the scene.

"We transported one female patient in her 30s to Crosshouse Hospital.”

Police Scotland also confirmed their attendance at the incident to assist their ambulance service colleagues.

They added that they are now investigating the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:"Around 11am on Saturday, April 29, 2023, police were called to assist Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues at an address in Boyd Orr Road after a woman had taken unwell at the address.
