Dalry: Zain's Curry House named best takeaway in south west Scotland

Zain's Curry House in the town claimed the award at the 2023 Scottish Curry Awards on Tuesday, May 2.

It's far from the first taste of success for the takeaway which has been the town for over 20 years.

As recently as autumn last year, Zain's were hailed as the best takeaway in Scotland, as well as the south west, at The Food Awards Scotland.

And 2021 also saw Zain's named Ayrshire's best takeaway/delivery restaurant by the Asian Catering Federation.

And Tuesday's prize saw the Indian retain the title which they had won in 2022 - much to the delight of the takeaway's boss.

Owner of the business, Khurum Jabbar, shared his delight in the news in a social media post following the awards - crediting those who back the business for their success.

He said: "We would like to express our gratitude to all our customers who continue to support us and give us so much love.

"Without all you guys it wouldn’t be possible. To continue to support us in this current climate is amazing.

"We really do mean it when we say you guys are just the best."

Khurum was also grateful for the amazing team he has behind him - particularly his father and head chef Abdul Jabbar, who he took the reins from in 2020.

Khurum added: "I would also like to say a big thank you to my team, who have been amazing over the years.

"The pressure of a kitchen is the one that only a chef will know about.

"Our chef and father who has been our rock for the past 22 years has been so consistent and the hard work finally pays off with these awards.

"So from all my customers to amazing team, from front staff to kitchen staff and also the drivers, who work tirelessly delivering the food to our customers - a massive thank you!

"This wouldn’t be possible without everyone."

Zain's now has two outlets in Dalry, branching out to offer desserts as well as their traditional fresh Indian food in the past couple of years.
