West Kilbride: West Coast Motors wins UK Enterprise award

Ollie Wood and Jamie McCrindle set up West Coast Motors three years ago to revamp a former motorbike shop and turn it into a plush showroom.

The duo took over the motorbike showroom - Route 78 Motorcycles - which was based on Ardrossan Road for a number of years selling bikes and scooters.

Its product range changed to high performance cars, showcasing Aston Martins, Audis, and Nissan GTRs.

Ollie, who is born and bred in West Kilbride, was delighted for the showroom to receive the award, and told the News the secret to their success was their enthusiasm striving to provide high quality, premium cars. 

The focus for West Coast Motors has been on on performance and specialist vehicles, including sports cars, 4X4s, convertibles and luxury motors.

Ollie said: "At the heart of it is being genuine with the customers and treat them how we ourselves would like to be treated.

"It was never my main intention to sell the car but to bring it up to its highest standard and that has always stuck with me; the cars came first before profit.

"A lot of other places perhaps cut corners in order to maximise profit but we have gone the other way and want the cars to be the best that they can be.

"We sell used cars too and if ever there are any problems which ever occur it is about dealing with it properly and being transparent with the customers.

"When we stated the business it was just at the start of the pandemic and it couldn't have been a worse time to get underway but we have worked hard and we have over 65 five star reviews on google as well as lots of really good reviews on Facebook and that is a really nice thing for the customers to do."
