Scotrail has introduced a ban on certain electric devices on its trains including scooters and skateboards.

The rail operator has placed a temporary ban on all lithium-ion powered micro devices on all trains and in all stations from Thursday June 1.

This includes e-scooters, e-unicycles, e-hoverboards and e-skateboards.

Rail companies across the UK have introduced similar bans in recent months due to the increased risk of fire from such devices.

A Scotrail spokesperson said: “Our temporary ban will be reviewed in twelve months’ time once more data becomes available on the safe operation and transport of these devices, or once any formal legislation comes into effect.

“This policy does not apply to personal mobility devices, powered wheelchairs and power assisted bicycles or e-bikes.”
