KILWINNING Medical Practice has paid tribute to a former doctor at the surgery, following her death.

Dr Susan Gardiner was a much valued member of the "family" at the practice for a number of years.

She has been sorely missed since she retired two years ago after she became unwell.

The practice confirmed that on June 6, Susan passed away, and paid a touching tribute to her with a statement on its website.

A spokesperson said: "We are so deeply saddened to share with you all the news that our friend and colleague Dr Susan Gardiner, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023.

"Susan was an integral member of our Kilwinning Medical Practice family for many years and her presence has been hugely missed since she became unwell and retired two years ago.

"Our thoughts are with her mum, brother, extended family and everyone who had the joy of knowing her."

The practice also confirmed Susan's funeral arrangements, with everyone welcome to attend.

This will take place in the Abbey Church in Kilwinning on Monday, June 26, at 1.30pm.

And the practice has made arrangements to allow its staff to pay their respects to their former colleague.

The surgery will be open as normal on Monday morning, remaining open in the afternoon for emergencies only so staff can attend Susan's funeral.

A practice spokesperson said: "Please only contact the surgery if you have an urgent issue which cannot wait.

"We appreciate your support at this very sad time."
