A Stevenston man has appeared in court charged with injuring a young child to the danger of their life.
David Cooper, 24, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of assaulting a child at an address in Irvine on May 13, 2020.
The Crown's indictment alleges that Cooper caused the child to "sustain injuries by means unknown" in during the incident, and that the child was left severely injured and their life put in danger.
Defence solicitor Peter Murray told a hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court that his client, of Moorpark Road in Stevenston, denied the charge against him.
A date was set for the case to go to trial and Mr Cooper, whose bail was continued, will return to court to face the allegation later this year.
